Stefan’s sports talents blossomed at a tender age when swimming, riding a bicycle, and skiing fell into his lap even before he was able to speak his native German language.
At the age of 29, he decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and make the journey to New York City, where he resides to this day.
New York is also the place where he met his crush, triathlon, which by now has developed into a serious romance. Outdoor sports remain the primary source for Stefan to meet new people, encounter new places, and stretch the boundaries of his endurance abilities.
His closest friends call him ‘Diesel’, which refers to his seemingly one gear – one speed approach to cycling. Ironman events are where Stefan excels most, and where his often mentioned tag line “Deal with it” was born.
Stefan is very proud to be a member of the 2014 RAAM team, and its support of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
